This is a video I made of Oliver doing what he loved best, ringing his bell and shouting. It's bittersweet for me to watch, because at the time he was very sick with a resistant infection. The fact that he is falling asleep in the middle of such a raucous activity is a clue to his serious condition. Sadly, awfully, he died only three days later in his person's loving hands. I post this to share the joy of the happy Amazon parrot, and to show how deceptively fine a desperately sick bird can seem.

Rest in peace, beautiful.

He was one of the most adored, pampered, petted, and beloved amazons ever. He was always happy, feist, singing, ringing his bell... He used to ask to be picked up, and then he would steer you by lifting his foot in the direction he wanted to go - and he never wanted for willing hands to ride on. I think he had a happy life, and he took his last breaths in the hands of his beloved human. You can't ask for better than that.
