Old Age or Illness?

I am so so so sorry that you are going through this! Parrots may not always be the most sensitive to human needs, but they KNOW LOVE and reciprocate it. You loved yours, and you were loved. I am sorry...

I am so sorry, my deepest condolences. Your poor parrotlet is the perfect example of how well birds hide illness. You had a great plan and did your very best.

I’m so sorry. My heart is breaking for you.

I am so sorry you lost your friend.

I'm truly sorry your little one didn't make it, but at least you got to say "goodbye" and remind him how much he was loved - that's all any one of us can ask for.

Thanks all for your kind condolences, and for all your advice along the way. This has been a hard week. Just the day before I lost him I was struck by an oncoming car and in the worst accident of my life. Crying with bruised ribs has got to be the saddest thing ever.

Today PeePee was laid to rest under the rose bush outside my home office window. This way I will see him every day. Buried with him were his favorite toy and his favorite treat, belle pepper seeds. If I get a bell pepper plant growing in spring I'll have to laugh.

I just read your "thank you to PeePee" and you have me in tears.

I hope those seeds will sprout, till then: I hope your other hurts will heal; and never say never, another bird might just need you more than those shelters need toys ...

I hope you heal from both wounds. Salt water heals, be it from tears, sweat, or the sea ..
I think one of the contagion things is unlikely, due to her age and lack of exposure to other birds. So if you think in time you might want another feathered friend.. many many birds need rescue, many are " sold" on Craigslist but they are still rescues, not all parrots are lucky enough to make to a real parrot rescue group...not that you are there yet , just planting seeds.. I lost my Burt The Bird and I too feel I could have done do much more, but her legacy lives on in the higher quality of life my new friends have..I hope you stay as part of the flock here. I too cried with your sweet goodbye post.
