ok...i already have a question about monster...

i am so sorry! i have a a few questions about Monster! Jade is a rough houser so i am in new territory with a mush mac!

1.) he will lick or tongue my face while making a clicking noise. or when i am holding him close and either petting him with 2 hands he will make this moaning or whining noise. like a low, constant errrrrrrrrr with a few varying pitches in between.... is this ok???

2.) when someone other than me walks by he does the "im annoyed" macaw squawk and bites at his leg....
is that normal, or just something he picked up?

I guess i do have a few rescue issues... he was having me hold him against my chest and i took him in the bathroom so he could see us in the mirror. as soon as he seen himself he shared some phrases with me..."KNOCK IT OFF, KNOCK IT OFF, BAD BIRD, KNOCK IT OFF...
it was so strange and sad that he said it after seeing himself.... it was probably just set off by seeing another mac in the mirror though and im just too big of a softie... i managed to calm him down and get a cute photo....

Well the first one is a pretty normal vocalization. My bird does that when preening herself, or when being preened...

I don't know why he's doing the leg thing...

The "knock it off. bad bird" thing sounds like a training phrase he picked up. I wouldn't read too much into it other than someone, somewhere along the line was probably using negative reinforcement on this bird - which is probably why THEY considered him a monster. (Y'think, maybe?!) And he is responding to the positive...

Mine say knock it off. (None of them say bad bird. They all say good bird.)

thanks! jade is such a "too cool" macaw. if i were to hug him he would look at me like i was from a different planet!

I just feel bad he knows such mean voices AND bad bird
i'm always seeing those "funny" parrot videos or a parrot using bad language and thinking..wow i would be embarrassed to admit my bird knows those things. nothing funny about it!
jade will say "stop that" when my too is going off, thats pretty funny, and i appreciate he says what we are all thinking!
