They look amazing. They love you so much, you must make them speechless, lol!!
Hahaha! Thanks, Tracey!

Yes, I think I like your take on it!

I find it so fascinating that your beautiful birdies will talk to everyone but you! If only we could get a glimpse into their minds - I'm sure we would be amazed by what we would find!

Love the photos.

Thanks, Shawna!

Yeah, I'd very much love that glimpse, myself. An eye opener for sure.

One trick that works for Parker, I've discovered recently, is to turn on The shower and put him on the shower rod. I do this when I take a shower, and it sets him off whistling. I discovered if I walk away leaving him up there and just start talking to him with some of his common phrases, he will start talking up a storm. But stops as soon as the water stops.

When giving them an indoor shower, I have a low, one bird perch that they use. Since only one can go at a time, the other stands on a "waiting perch" in the bathroom while the other showers. (The waiting perch is simply one of the training perches whenever it is in the bathroom. Hahaha!)

I talk to them, of course, but their focus is either waiting their turn or preening while the other showers. But maybe this would work if I took one up at a time instead of both. Hmmm.

Worth a shot. Thanks, Chris.

I've wondered if somehow our own personalities lend themselves to certain types of behavioral tendencies from our birds. And I don't mean the overt stuff, either, but rather the subtle qualities within each of us that make us who we are. You know what I mean?

Hmmm...this has me wondering if perhaps my birds don't talk to me because they can't get a word in edgewise? Maybe it is the opposite in our case, since Reg is so quiet and I am ...well, not?

Oh Stephen, your birdies are just stunning! Barney and Madge are blown away at their great beauty and send respectful whistles. Mind you, Barney and Madge are exactly the same: they yak away at each other non-stop, but as soon as I heave into view, up they shut and about all I can get out of them is 'Hello'. I hear them practicing snippets of stuff all the time, but apparently my presence strikes them speechless just as yours does Jolly and Maya.

I do think you and I have one thing in common, though: we're neither of us ever short of a word. Think that might have something to do with our birds' chronic wordlessness??? ;)

Thanks, Trish!

Hahahahahaha! You and Terry may be on to something. Perhaps I'll try the good old-fashioned silent staring contest and see if they break!

But looks like Jolly might have been in cahoots with Chris and Parker. In today's shower session, after Jolly had had his and was waiting for Maya to finish hers, it was like the floodgates suddenly burst open! "Hello, Jolly! Good boy! Good girl! Well done! What'cha doing?" And, between each, a barrage of kisses! (Kissing noises are his absolute favorite!) He used his deep voice, his high-pitched voice, and his robot voice! Hilarity!

Awesome! Score one for human!

Get someone in there with a treat each time, see what happens after a week:)

Ps, I didn't say at first, but they are just the bees knees. You clearly take such great care of them:)

The "bee's knees"? Hahaha! Kicking it old school, eh? Thanks, Chris.

Hopefully this wasn't just an anomaly. He's never done it before during shower time, but maybe he's found new inspiration in the bathroom tiles. Hahaha!

Anansi, you sound like such a good eckie parent!

I'm Liz, BTW. Easy peasy.

Hi, Liz! I'm Stephen. And thank you!

Looking forward to some posted updates about your guy!

If he doesn't talk next time, get your kettle, electric frying pan and stereo and put them in the bathroom, between those and the shower he will have to talk:D.

Through inspiration, or intimidation? (Two electric devices and something designed to heat water to scalding levels? All packed within a bathroom? Sounds like a death threat to me! Hahaha!)

Oh no no no...lol. If someone was going to interrogate Gizmo, the combination of the above would be guaranteed to get him talking, mind you what he said would make no sense. Around the shower Gizmo becomes a whistling, squeeling, screeching bundle of excitement

theyre adorable! :DD my Ziggy bird says WOOOOOWWWW! whenever my boyfriend walks by him, but he never says anything for me. so i know the feels lol! im just glad he loves sharing kisses with me at least. he gets on a kissing streak and just shoves his beak into my cheek, then the other one, and back to the first one..he'll do this for like 5 minutes straight its so adorable!

your birds really are gorgeous! :D!!

Got this on video, Cameron? I'd love to see. Sounds hilarious!

Thank you!

Parrots really pick up fast, don't they? Mine do that beak kiss into the cheek thing, too. They really observe us closely and mimic all of our actions. Not just the talking.

Hahaha! I love the "woooooooooow!" High comedy!

Beautiful birds!!! I have the opposite problem...Oliver talks up a storm but only to me...so everyone in my household says I am making this up or "hearing" things. ;)

Thanks, Lisa!

Hahaha! My first parrot, a cockatiel, used to do the same thing. Even taught himself to wave hello with his little feet while saying, "Hello, baby! Hello, darling!" But would he ever demonstrate for anyone else? Nooooooooooo!

So wrong!
Hahahahahaha! High comedy! And so true!!!
