well oxy is off to the vet today :( the tips of all his feathers are depigmented, they have always been like that. the first time i took oxy to the vet, he said they were nithing to worry about. that they would be caused by some form of stress dyring the development of his feathers and that he is healthy.
Lately i have noticed that the depigmentation is worse (it could be because prince and bruno are a bright green) but i also notived last night that the the ring around his eyes has a slight pink tinge to it. his poops are fine and he is full off life. apart from his physical appearance he seems heathy but id rather be safe then sorry as i read the depigmentation could be caused from a defficancy. so im going to request them to do blood work and while they are at it find out if he is a he or she.

wish me luck

below is a close up of oxy's head. u can see what i mean about the feathers but cant really see his eyes

good luck, I hope you find the answers your looking for.

when I take my birds to the vet, I find it somewhat stressful, pls. let us know what happens.

better to get answers than not to.

Just curious how old is Oxy? As parrots age, they're feathers can become less vibrant (just like our hair goes gray). If Oxy was naturally not as brightly colored as a young bird, and he is aging, that may be why your noticing it more next to your younger/brighter birds, My parents 2 zons are over 40 now, and both of them are noticeably less bright than they used to be, even though they are both healthy and get proper nutrition. It may be a point worth bringing up with the vet. Regardless, I hope the vet has some answers and if there's a problem, it can be treated quickly!

thanks every one. we just got back from the vet (not happy i couldnt see mine tho, he went on holidays toda and wont be back for 2 weeks).

After a lond discussion with the vet about oxy's adventurous beginning. he assures me that oxy is very healthy and that the depigmentation is caused from stress. although not recent as there areno markings on new feathers. he also said that as a yound he may have not recieved enough vit A as we had a grain shortage about a year ago so it could be possible that the feed used was made with older grains and in such losing some of the vit A in them.
He recommended feeding oxy a diet of fruit and veg with high vit A and also fresh grown grass ends to supplement any missing from his dry diet.

He was very happy that i new what i was doing and laughed at me when i saod i was an over protective paniccy birdy mum.

oh and i decided not to dna him and wait for the surprise..... although i may change my mind again soon.

oxy is now sitting on his cage in his room preening and straightening all his feathers cranky with me for messing them up while holding him as he had his nails clipped (he doesnt like getting that done, but i dont like looking like i went 10rounds with a tiger lol).

Oxy is just going on 7months.... he is my baby. he has always had the depigmentation, apart from standing out due to the color of the others after talking with the vet, i also think it standing out as it kinda patchy cause it not onnew feathers

Good thing it's not a virus or disease. Have you tried exotic fruits such as mango or star fruit ? They have high amounts of vitamens
