Parrots
Zulu, blue quaker parrot (5.30.13)
I noticed this the other day after coming home from work. I can't honestly recall if it was like this in the morning and am equally unsure if it's a result of his breakfast of carrots (food staining maybe?) or something else. Zulu's right foot is darker than his left. He's using it normally and his droppings are also normal. He's not any less active or chatty than normal either. He's still quite young and clumsy so there have been a coupe of falls, but they're generally not too bad as he lands on either the carpet, his cage bars or a plant.

Maybe he just needs a good bath?

He hasn't really been walking in much if anything. I rinsed it off as best I could (Zulu is not so much a fan of baths) but there's still a bit of an odd discoloration to it. Since it's his eating foot and orangish, I'm inclined to think it's a food stain. Going to try and coax him into a bath again a little later tonight.

He'll probably be fine then! :)

It's likely the carrots. Carrot juice is surprisingly stain-y!

Parrot are usually right footed, some left footed. But that means that they tend to very often (if not always) use the same foot to eat with......hence the food stains on the favorite foot.

Zulu is fine. His foot is the right color now. It was a combination food stain and something else stain. It was still a scare, wondering just what might be wrong.
