Is this normal? Neytiri learned to fly on sat and she seems nippier than ever now. She's now 14 weeks. She's even biting the girl that cleans her cage in the mornings. She just seems really moody.

Not totally sure what to do. If she continues to bite me after saying no bite I put her in her cage for a couple minutes and turn my back. Then she's nice for a while.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

I think they all go through a nippy phase ....especially after they learn to fly .
Cosmo was kinda nippy after he came home . but once he settled in and got use to new surroundings and a new routine and he was fine. He has not nipped or bit me for at least a couple of months now (knock on wood ) lol...
He kinda just outgrew it I guess.

Hmmm, Erin was nippy when I got her - she was bonded to another parrot and unhandable, we did some trainng and taught her to fly and she is excellent now. It may not have to doa whole lot with teaching her to fly, but each bird varies. She is young and may be exploring with her mouth more or just testing their limits >:D They all do it

I have heard statements like this before so I have to ask " Do you try to clean your birds cage while she's in it? " Because thats insane how would you react if a 5 ft tall hand came into your bathroom while you were in your bubble bath zoning out and started changing everything and pushing over the tooth paste. You would shreek and hope your Hubby came running with a shotgun. Please put your bird on his perch or play gym while cleaning it's cage.

Unfortunately that's not possible. She is not home yet and since she's flighted it's the shops policy to keep her in the cage unless I'm there to supervise her being out for safety's sake.

Hopefully she will be home soon. But I'm to rushing it.

I too clean my Kawie's cage with him on it. But it is because to get him off of it requires alot of stress for him. He is still getting used to being the only parrot in the cage and that hands / perches are good things. He will not step up onto anything unless he flutters to the groud first and that is usually a fear thing for him. So he sits on top of the cage and watches me clean it. He is only really inside his cage when he is sleeping or eating. He hangs out up top otherwise.
