I managed to get num num back on his feet again after the last starvation issue with him and Pearl:rolleyes:

now that he's back to normal, and doing well, I misted him today...he just love that!:D

so here we go:

you can see how his upper beak has become a bit deformed from the lower one being broken

if you look closely this lower beak swoops out from left to right, it was just trimmed 4 weeks ago!

my Nummies:p

Oh my gosh, he is so cute! I am so glad he is doing better now:) Your experience with Pearl helped me out as well. I was telling my husband about what happened, and he started wondering if my budgie Russell was also hungry because his mate Stephanie is such a brat.
We put in 2 small dishes of food on different sides of the cage, and took out the larger one that had been in there. Russell ate for 10 or 15 minutes straight. It would never have occurred to us had you not posted about NumNum so thank you so much!!! It's hard to tell how long he was hungry and not getting enough to eat before that.

It is SO good to see pictures of the pretty Num Num!!! :D He looks GREAT, Beth, and only thanks to your dedication and TLC!!!!!

He truly is such a gorgeous boy!!! Please give him some snugglies from me. :)

thanks guys, he certainly is a special boy to me, in so many ways.

@ Terry- I know eh?....gosh so easy to miss, it's not the least bit obvious, and you are so welcome.

here's a picture of num num on the bottom of the cage....had I not intervened when I did, his organs would have started to shut down....and past the point of no return :(

Wow, it's amazing to know that was only a few days ago! You would never know it by the way he looks now!

you were lucky Terry, this is why I love this forum. I have learned so much from here!!

anytime two birds are housed together and fight over food, or one is getting picked on, always offer two bowls of food.

that picture was xmas morning....not what I wanted to wake up to, but as you can tell he's back to his usual self, mean ol' Pearl....bad, bad!!...ha ha

I consider myself very lucky:) Russell was a rescue, and I am so attached to him. His previous owner has been depressed for years, and then sadly committed suicide. No one found him for several days, and when they did they also found the poor animals he had left behind. Poor Russell was in a cage that had bird poop so deep it covered his perch. His dead mate was underneath the poop and was nothing but a skeleton. He had been without food for several days. I found him on an ad on Kijiji free to a good home, and the picture of him on there broke my heart. We drove 45 minutes to pick him up, and I honestly didn't know if he was going to survive the trip home. He kept falling off his perch in the travel cage we brought and just lay gasping on the bottom of the cage. You could literally see his bones thru his feathers. We soon got him fattened up, and I have to say it was one of the best experiences of my life seeing the life come back into his eyes. I saw he was lonely after he got better, so added Stephanie. I would never have forgiven myself if he had starved after all that because I didn't notice she was keeping him away from his food. I am watching closely now and may separate them if I have to, but he is so happy to have company. I will be watching alot better now thanks to you.
I'm so sorry, didn't mean to take over your thread of your lovely NumNum!

no worries!....I didn't know you rescued Russell, yikes!! how awful, and sad at the same time.
it's amazing he survived at all, but I guess he was just waiting in the wings for you....his new mom:D

budgies need friends, they do better, but females tend to get bi&^chy, and very pushy, just like Pearl did with Nums.
I'm ok with that, it's not the end all to be all for Nums, if I find a super sweet female for him that loves him for who he is, maybe he just might find another mate....in the mean time I have him all to myself, ha ha.

I have no plans to breed him any time soon, but Pearl well, I'll see if she likes any of my males and go from there. watch out Pearl!!

Beautiful photos of Num Num. So glad he is doing better. He was clearly enjoying his bath time. :)
