Stitch the Blue Crown Conure
Hello! Some of you may already know, but this past weekend we went to pick up Stitch, the Blue Crown! I'm absolutely thrilled, I have confidence that he will be a life friend.

I'm also a little overwhelmed and nervous, since I easily fall into the "BUT IT SHOULD BE PERFECT IMMEDIATELY" trap and get paranoid. But I'm working on being relaxed and giving Stitch space, and letting it take its time.

No doubt I will be seeking advice from you all :smile015:

What a cutie!!!

Mine was just the sweetest little bird ever. It won't be long I bet before you say the same about Stitch!

Awwww!! He's adorable!

I've not yet seen a blue crown in person, only pictures. I think they are quite a bit larger than green cheeks?

Stitch looks young...I'm going to go view your other posts, perhaps you've mentioned his age in one of them, I'm curious.

Congratulations!

Toni

He's gorgeous... I really want one of those, but I don't think they are available in Australia...

He's around three years old I believe, so yes, pretty young! And they're definitely much bigger than green cheeks.

He really seems pretty stressed out I have to say. I had posted that he came from a loving family and someone said that that could make it a harder adjustment, which makes perfect sense. I just want him to be happy.

His vocal repertoire is awesome! Last night he perfectly mimicked my sneeze :) He was calling for the kids in his old house yesterday, too. Ugh :*(

thanks all xxx

BCs are really different from other conures. They just don't seem to have that bossiness or attitude. It will take some time for him to adjust. There really isn't much about them that is conure-like at all.

Mine talked all day nonstop, lol!

Have you tried singing to him? Mine loved it so much I could cheer her up after a traumatic vet appointment within minutes by singing to her. One time, right after we left the vet, she just said, wearily, "Good night" and crawled to the back of her carrier. I started singing to her and 2 minutes later she was back in the front, hanging on the door, and looking happy.

We listen to A LOT of music in our house, and I've found that he's sensitive to it-- a lot of what we listen to will get him overexcited. Two days in a row the Velvet Underground was put on and he kind of wigged out. If I put on more even-keeled things he's fine. I don't know if its the pitch of my voice or my perceived status in the house or what but I have to be extremely calm around him or he gets overexcited and aggressive. So, no singing yet, lol.

Bri did like a lot of different songs. But, her favorite one, and one that calmed her down was the Stones, "As Tears Go By".
