Good idea on the behaviorist ... I'm having trouble finding an avian vet within 100 miles of me.... :( No kidding.... But I'm looking.

ok....good news....we worked on step up again tonight ... and she did it!!! YAY! She yelled, looked at me and decided it wasn't worth the fight anymore and stepped up on my arm from the dowel .... I'm not trying to get a step up right on my arm just yet from the cage....that will be a while....but we have made some progress!! :)

Thank you Logan, for your input! I think you're right, macaws are not as steady on the arm as some other birds....and boy, I need to trim her nails! ouch

We're doing so good today!! She was so lovable with me, pruning me and getting her pets....making little noises at me....all love today and no bites! (well, she still bites everyone else).... but she is making a nice bond with me and doing a little better with step up....EXCEPT from the cage.
But since she did so nicely today, she earned her privilege of sitting on top of the cage for the day....and I think she kind of understands it too. She is being really good.

Awesome 5th day!! I'm so proud of her.

Poor Holly. I sent pictures of me holding her to her previous owner and she was shocked and wrote me back saying that I'm already doing so much more with her in a week than she did with her for 16 years.

Poor bird.... I doubt she barely ever left her cage. She has so much to learn and to experience.
When I had my moluccan, I did so much with her. I used to take her shopping with me, then we'd hit the toy store so she could pick out her own toys....Hannah really had the life with me. I want to give the same to Holly....but I'm realizing how much just the simple things are probably so surprising to her....
It's like taking in a child that has never been allowed to play outside.....

It makes me want to show her the world! LOL
