Rita (Military Macaw),
Mango (Goffin Cockatoo),
My wife fell in love with a 12 week old Goffin Cockatoo we have seen, and handle since it was 6 weeks old. My wife really fell in love with this Goffin. She even had a name picked out for her so two days ago I went, and put the deposit down on her. She'll come home next month, and her name is now Gizmo. I'll post pics soon.

I just took in a Goffin, that had gone wrong. Luckily we are able to turn him around. These guys are so cute [I can see where it can happen ] So my advice [read everything on Toos] I have 3 Toos now .I would say the Goffins are can be handfuls too [doesn't matter their small. Don't let your guy get overly bonded to one person . This is what one of the problems mine had . He was bonded to the lady ,then eventually it would fly at and try to attack the other family members. They need to learn to keep themselves entertained and have a lot of set times out of their cages and 1 on 1 time with you. They get really stressed about coming out of their cages if you don't set up structure. Lots of screaming and temper tantrums . I have this whole routine at night with mine [like a child] I throw newspaper balls on top of his cage and he throws them back to me [to wear him out] Sometimes I give him a bath too and cover him and quiet down the house. They are the most hyper species ive ever seen . But on a positive note .I just want to give you a heads up to avoid problems or have a game plan when you come across them . Its amazing mines turn around hes quite the show off and wants someone to play him . Welcome to TOO town :)

Yeah with redoing this website I have found an amazing amount of information about the types of birds I have to keep putting up. I actually sat down, and talked with our breeder when I was doing some stuff in his office. I didn't know the guy has owned exotic pet stores, and or breed exotic birds for 40 years now. I am doing some work for his sun also, and he has told me a bunch of cool stories. He doesn't breed much so he has his friend do it for him. He has bought his friend over 300 pairs of breeders so he can get the birds he wants. Though none of the Maui Sunrise made it. He is the only person I have know to have Kakarikis, and I even got to handle them as babies. I put them up on the website, and he them out in the small bird room. They were all sold within an hour. Now mind you he doesn't sell birds to just anyone. I have seen him turn people away, hang up on them, or make them leave his store because he didn't think they'd be right for a bird or the type they wanted. I have personally seen him go off on people for how they treat their birds also.

Freedom, I am wondering where is your breeder located? If you can , can you tell us who he is? I would love to see what types of birds he has!

Freedomandforgiven, You and your wife must be saints. Talk about loud birds, they can rattle your fillings. I hope you do not have neighbors. Please know what your getting yourself into. I own a Greenwing Macaw who can get loud but not even close to the screams of the Goffin. Best of luck Joe

Yes we know how loud they get. The crazy thing is our rescue Macw Phoenixgets as loud as the Sulfur Crested Cockatoos I've been around. You can hear Phoenix 2 blocks down the street when he starts getting loud. He doesn't scream being a bad bird. He screams when we are getting ready to leave the house, when you're pulling up in the drive way he starts screaming as soon as he hears our car pulling in the drive way, and will keep screaming until we open the front door then he stops as soon as he sees the front door open. He does it of course the sunrise times, and suns sets. The other only times he does it is when he is bored with his toys in his cage or has destroyed his favorite one for the week, or when he gets excited. He will just starting to scream out of no where when you would hold him or stand next to him, or if he was really getting into playing with his toys. Some weird trait he has he screams when he gets excited or bored with is toys. When he is really getting into playing or running around he'll be laughing and scream then start talking and jabber like crazy then laugh and scream. The screaming sucks, but it doesn't bother us. Plus you can't help but laugh when he is like that.

She came home the day before yesterday. As soon as we took her out of the carrier Phoenix said "Hi". He will hang on the side of his cage, and just jabber and talk to her or keep saying "Hi", and "Hello" to her.

If you go to Wholesale Bird & Cage Babies you can see her growing up from 6 weeks old

He is located in St. Charles Missouri. The name of the store is Wholesale Bird & Cage. His name is Dave, and the store manager is Tara. I am rebuilding their website from the ground up, but you can see some of their current birds I have posted on their right now.
The link for the 1st of 3 pages of birds he has right now is Wholesale Bird & Cage Birds For Sale
Hr just got 34 more, but I am not sure all of what. Technically he doesn't breed anymore. He sold his over 300 breeders to his friend in Florida when he opened this store 10 years ago. The conditions being that he only sells the birds to him. When he did breed literally every pet store, and exotic pets store got their large, med., and exotic smaller birds through him. He also owned 8 exotic pet stores. The first time I saw a Macaw, and fell in love with one was when I was 19, and walked into an exotic pet store down the street from my house. There was this huge green with bright red bird. I asked them what it was they told me a Military Macaw. I then found out the price, and my stomach dropped. Ever since seeing one when I was 19 I swore I would have a Macaw, and now I have 2 lol. As it turns out that was one of his birds.

OH!!!! your Goffin is so sweet ! Whats her name? I met a lady this week that had 2 [that were dolls] She had them since they were babies .They are 25 now. So its important how they are raised. My poor Pearl is an example of someone really doing it wrong.

Oh adorable baby Goffin!!! I love toos!! Goffins are one of my fave toos :)
