Jenday Conure (Lola)
Hi everyone! So, lately Lola has been doing a weird head bobbing motion when she wants my attention. I took this as her form of dancing or just attention seeking but my friend who also cares for a parrot says this might be her seeking a mate? I'm not sure if this true but I know that misinterpreting this can lead to egg laying and aggression right? Any thoughts? Thanks!! :):orange:

I call that the conure happy head bob. Sometimes it's dancing, sometimes it's an excitement/attention thing, sometimes they're reguging for you, and sometimes it's just a contentment thing (the slow bob)...

It's normal, it's a good thing, and they actually do it a lot.

Thank you for the response! Yes, thats what I thought also. I don't think she is regurgitating food because she has been sexed as a female for sure or do females do this also? I'm glad to get a second opinion that says it's normal! :)

Yes they do. It's a rapid head bob where they bring stuff up from their crop, as opposed to the "contentment" bob, or the "playful" bob...

They bob their heads a lot.
