No, you can not touch my bird.

Merlin is fully flighted and has no problem dashing off if he doesn't want to be with someone. We take him in a travel cage, he can see everything, everyone can see him. He loves it.

IF I could get him in a harness I might attempt that, but to be honest, a cage is a better "back off signal" to most people.

Well maybe I would take a bird out to the public if it was a bigger bird, say a Macaw! I feel like that is big enough for people to see and react too. My bird which is a small pineapple conure would not be a good candidate for the public. Too small and people wouldn't be able to react to him well. A Macaw is easily seen and can be avoided if needed, where as my Conure is too small.

Also what stores and places of business would let you take an animal in such as a bird? Do you just mean going to parks? I saw this one bird on a bike that was left there while the owner was in Best Buy! It was a Macaw, very good looking bird. The bird rides with the guy and I think that is awesome, but I wouldn't have left my bird alone in public tied to my bike!

conures arent too small to see.. especially on your shoulder.
when i trim my birds wings i test fly a few times by throwing them up like if they were spooked. even my strongest bird lands back on me. my birds are trained to do a half circle right back on me.
