Hi, my bird laid two eggs, first on 7th and another one on 9th of this month. after that she didn't laid an egg. what could be the problem ? i don't think she is egg bound. she looks healthy, active and pretty normal. she still shreds paper and take it nest box. but she don't eat or chew the cuttlefish bone and she don't even eat fruits and vegetables that i provide. she only eats that lovebirds mix, i mean the seeds. may be she don't have that much of calcium to produce an egg, cox she don't eat those healthy foods ? Any ideas ?

note: My birds are not friendly, so can't hand feed them :rainbow1::orange:

What kind of bird are we talking about and how old is she?

Is she with a mate or laying eggs without a mate?

How long have you had her and have you moved or moved her cage recently?

we are talking about lovebirds and yes she has a mate. don't knw the exact age. but shes more than 1 year. i bought my birds on january 2013. i moved the cage while they were preparing the nest. she laid eggs just after moving the cage. and i didnt move the cage after laying the eggs. but i check the nestbox by opening it everyday. could this be the problem ?:rainbow1::orange:

So nobody have an idea or experienced this situation ? or everybody just ignoring ?

Well, I am having a hard time understanding the problem. Ok, so she laid two eggs and now what is the problem? Were you expecting more? Is she acting sick? Are the eggs still there? Is she setting on them? Is the male feeding her? Are these your first birds? Do you have any experience breeding birds?

Yes i was expecting more. i thought lovebirds usually lay 5 to 6 eggs. she seems pretty active and fine. eggs are still there. and yes shes sitting on them, but she comes out to eat. These are my first birds and yeah i have no experience in breeding birds :rainbow1::orange:

Just like humans, the amount of offspring/eggs laid varies in birds. The typical clutch may be 5-6 eggs, but some hens may lay less where-as others may lay more. First time hens may lay more or less than the typical/expected amount.

If the eggs were laid this month, and the eggs are being incubated, then you should be able to find out soon if they are fertile or not.

Also if this is her first time she may not even feed them. I have had that problem in the past with first timers. As said above 2 may be the norm for this bird.
