If anyone saw my thread, http://www.parrotforums.com/general-parrot-information/55523-so-much-work.html, and the pictures I posted last night you might notice that Folger is not wearing a collar. Right now he has been in his cage for a little over 24 hours without a collar! Instead I have noticed some torn up foam and a decapitated dinosaur:D

So far I am very impressed with him going the 24 hours without trying to rearrange his skin and feathers! While he has been able to go without it when outside his cage for awhile now he has always had issues going without it in the cage.

How long do you think Folger boy will last without his collar?

That's the best news Victoria :D! I don't know how long he can go, but I think it's wonderful, and I'm crossing fingers this new no-collar look for him will be the new trend!

I hope so too! I know he isn't going to last forever probably not even a week but progress is progress:)

Yayyyy Folger! That's amazing progress. I hate to venture a guess as to how long Folger can get by without his collar while inside his cage but I hope it becomes the norm. Please get him a large supply of foam to rip up and a herd of dinosaurs to behead!

Thanks for this happy update! Folger has many admirers.

I'm so glad Folger is starting to be able to spend time without his collar. Your patience and persistence working with him and keeping him entertained is really paying off:) Even if he does need to go back in, at least he's spent a full day without it. Things can only improve (and out of collar time lengthen!) from here!

He has lots of dinos and a couple people to behead:D

I'm hoping to find this all destroyed if the urge hits him to mutilate!

I don't think this is the time where he will completely stop but I'm hopeful that one day most of his time can be spent without anything on. Considering just about a year and half ago when he came home he rarely could go more than a couple hours without doing something to himself this is definitely a big step for him:D

This news makes me so happy, Victoria! You have put a lot of time, effort, persistence and love into Folger, and it shows. The progress you've managed with him is nothing short of amazing.

24 hours was huge. 48 will be massive!!!

I'm so happy for you, AND for Folger with how far this has come. It's so easy to become discouraged with something like this, but your dedication, patience, and consistency over a year's time is most inspiring Victoria :D!

So 48 hours! He had one snipped feather that I noticed but considering how he flys around when out he could have broken one when out and finished it off in the cage. He is out now and I am home all day tomorrow so I believe I will leave it off for another night to see how it goes:)

Sweeeeeeeeeeet!!! I'm really amped about this news! Victoria, I will be watching this thread with great interest!

No matter what happens, this is a huge milestone!

Good this morning! 5:30 will be 3 days collarless:eek:

I'm going to get his foraging boxes together this morning and hide some almonds in his toy baskets to keep him occupied for a bit today.

Go, Folger!!!!!!

Victoria, this is amazing news!!! What a miracle you have worked with Folger!
Folger is such a good boy:)

This is awesome news! Yay Folger! You can do this!

Bravo, you beautiful boy! You can do this!

Fantastic progress, Victoria!

Tada...

Over 72 hours now:D The only mark on him if you notice at all is a dark spot near his bone from a crash landing the other day. Some torn up foam and his foraging box was raided!

This is truly amazing. Victoria, what you have accomplished with Folger is unbelievable! Especially for those of us who have been following your difficult journey with him!

On to day 4, Folger!!!

Thank you! I'm so surprised he is lasting this long:) The only time he talks anymore is when he is either startled or luring in victims to bite. But I just heard him scolding one of the little birds flying around hahaha
