For the past 2 1/2 years, I've been undergoing treatment for a very curable, non-life threatening cancer. I'm just finishing up the last scan for my current follow up. This scan requires a very low dose of a radio-active tracer that I took this morning. The radiologist said that I don't have to be isolated, but have to limit my direct contact with Max and Jade to only 15 min at a time for the next 5 days.

How much does that suck? I usually spend 3-4 hours with them on work days and literally all day on the weekend. I would never want to be the cause of health issues for my birds, but this is going to be really, really hard. It'd probably be easier on all of us if they put me in total isolation for 5 days.

I'm really just pouting right now - since there isn't anything to be done about the situation. Okay, I feel better.

HRH DI you are a very brave and courageous guardian.
Always thinking of your birds.......
No No No to total isolation for 5 days No No No
5 days will go by, and before you know it, will be over.
What would be going through their tiny innocent minds ????????
If their cage is not visible to you, perhaps try place it where you can see and talk to them continuously.
Praying for a total recovery
God Bless

5 days is a long time to be away from your birds. I know, being away at school makes it so that i get to see Dusty for one week every two months. Its hard.

I know you'll get through it! 5 days will go by quicker than you think!

I hope everything goes well.

Do you have recordings of your voice to play when you are not nearby? May help some. Good luck with the treatments.

Gosh, I can't imagine how hard this is on you. I hope that Jade can find something to occupy her mind in the meantime, and you get well soon.

Sending hugs!

Only 4 days left !!!!!!
How are the birds reacting now?
Even if they see you from a distance, you are still there for them.
Huggies

Wishing you a very speedy recovery. Only a few more days left before you can spend your days with your babies again. My husband and I have already made up our minds that if anything medically major comes up with us, we are heading home to Dallas for our healthcare. Best around. Good luck to you.

I had my scan yesterday, so now we're just waiting for the results from my doctor. I was hoping that these few days would help Jade bond with my husband since she's his bird - she's become attached to me. I don't know if it's going to work or not.

2 days left but they're the weekend and that's when Max and Jade are out of their cages all day.

2 days left, not long now. I can imagine how you feeling, especially over the weekend, that is our birdie time.....
When the 2 days are over, let your hubby continue with Jade.
Perhaps this special time with them together, a great bonding experience will take place.
Praying for good results.

I am! Especially after what happened with Jade this morning.

Since Wednesday, I'll get Max on my shoulder for 15 min. then give him to one of my boys or put him on his perch. He's molting so not very sociable right now, however, when he wants my attention, he wants it now! It's sad to see a very clipped bird try so hard to fly to you.

If I don't have Max, it's Jade's turn. She makes poofy head and rolls onto her back. Then after 15 min, I hand her over to my husband. It's actually been good for the 2 of them. She's really his bird, but she's become very attached to me...I don't know why.

But tomorrow, we're back to normal!

I can't imagine how hard this must be on you all! I hope the time passes really quickly and you can go back to spending as much time as you want together. Birds are very intuitive and I really do believe they know you are doing what you are for a very good reason.

I wanted to share that the scan results have come back negative! It's the best result I've had in over 2 years. So, I'm good for a year.

I'm so excited, I've been telling everyone who'll listen.:30:
