I'm danigrl a Fairly New owner of a green cheek conure, thought I should join a forum as I have a million questions about my lil guy all the time. When I first brought him home at Xmas I was so afraid he would be sick or hurt and I wouldn't realise I drove my family nuts being paranoid. So much googling was done.. Learnt now he is fine! Was like bringing a newborn home...
I have him out of his cage whenever we are home and he seems pretty happy. He comes when I call him no matter where he has been hiding and he follows me around everywhere. I think I'm his favourite person but he is quite happy to snuggle with my hubby and 10 yr old. Tho he gets Nasty if he didn't get enough sleep the night before thanks to this forum who solved that prob for me.
We live in australia so have a big gumtree branch set up in the corner of the living area which he loves to hang out in. But his fav place is my shoulder. He always jumps in my kitchen sink when I try do dishes and bites my toes when I'm cooking cos he wants to be up on me he's very mischievous. I call him a boy but we haven't had him sexed yet.
And he is the best family pet we have owned. Can't wait to teach him tricks...
