My Hahn's Macaw Bella <3
Bella has been working on saying new words lately. Last night she kept making clicking noises (which I think is her imitating my kisses). And she kept saying "Hmmmmmm....." and she is working on a 3-4 syllable word but I haven't been able to tell what it is quite yet. So far her vocabulary includes: Hello, Hi, Step Up, Bella, Good Night, Huh, What, Hmmmm.... I'm super proud! It's like a baby learning how to walk :)

This is really interesting to me because I haven't formally trained Bella to talk. Usually when I am doing dishes, cleaning, watching tv, etc. I just talk to her about random stuff and she picks up her words from there. I'm very proud of her for being such a quick learner without any formal training.

Before I post this I just have to say, Bella is sitting next to my laptop dancing to the song Firework by Katy Perry. Gotta love her :D

Bella is doing wonderful, congrats. Continues talking definitely helps. A bird hears each and very word said, as long as he is within hearing distance. They absorb each word, storing it, never forgetting it, even though they are not saying it yet.
I am with Mishka practically 24/7, we chat all day long, even though I am in my office, and Mishka in the lounge. There are words I have said to him weeks ago, and suddenly out of the blue, he comes out with them.
Keep up the great work

Thanks Antoinette. I am actually contemplating switching majors (in college) and going into something with animal sciences/business. It would be my dream to own a store that only sold food, supplies, toys, cages, etc. for exotic birds. I would love to sell birds there too. I have accumulated many books and have been spending time observing, reading & soaking up as much knowledge as I can. A career change might be in the near future :D
