New to this forum and new to birds

You have made such a wise, mature decision.
Thinking it through properly, taking the bird best interests into consideration, as well at the other pets you have.
I hope other people who are in a similar situation read this post, and learn from it.
You obviously have a tremendous love for birds, being a volunteer worker, will give you great satisfaction, interacting with them, and in return the birds will be fortunate to get love and attention from you.
Please continue to be active on the forum, share all the lovely encounters with us, that you are going to experience.
In return you will be able to assist members who are wanting to adopt birds etc.

Thanks, Antoinette. I felt like such a grown up saying that, lol. Seriously, I have done my share of impulsive buys in the past and I know myself better than anyone.

Will, glad you made this choice! If you aren't ready or able to devote as much time as a bird needs, or a safe envionment, it's wonderful that you recognize this before bringing a bird into your life. Volunteering is a great idea! It will only teach you more about birds, so that if in the future your circumstances or feelings change you can povide an even better home for a bird :)

do keep in touch here, and let us know how things pan out as time progresses!

Hi again Will. You did your homework for sure. I am so happy you chose to read the book before bird. I am sure when it is the right time your will know it. FYI I have a cat as many other bird people do and with supervision it is not an issue. My cat has gotten used to the bird being around and out. She does not seem to want to attack but then again I don't fool with natural instinct. Cat is afraid of bird. Please feel free to come to BBF meetings or classes anytime. One does not have to have a bird. Just planning for a bird is good enough. Please stick around our forum.
