Hi! I'm Jacquie, new to the community and have a ?.

Hello, everyone!
I'm Jacquie, have really enjoyed threads I've read and unfortunately hit the wrong button regarding my introduction.
I have an inherited 19 year old Red Lored Amazon, Xavier and a rescued green cheek conure, Eddie. Both talk and I can spend more time with them as the kids are now out of the nest, so to speak.

Birds, I've learned are absolutely awesome! They are constantly learning and it's hysterical what they pick up. Eddie mimics me typing in my phone- just started that ruse.

The reason I kind of jumped the gun, so to speak, is that ebay has a cage that I think might be perfect for him, although he is extremely particular - yep, 4 cages in the garage.

I inherited Xavier , who was being fed outdoor black sunflower seeds, dirty cage etc. My heart went out to him and, while we have a ways to gi, he is hysterical though needs more training.
Regardless, this is a cage size question. Between the two of them talking, it feels like the kids never left!

I could use your help - simple to most I'm sure.
I'm buying Xavier a bigger cage then he had. Is 5/8 " bar spacing too small for him or okay?
EBay has only a few cages left and could use help. Thank you, and I'm excited to be here,to learn and to meet others who enjoy birds.

Well, hello there!

Glad you're here!

Thank you for your good stewardship of these birds.

Welcome!

Hi there. 5/8" spacing is fine for your Amazon. Get the BIGGEST cage you can afford and fit in your house. Other feathure are secondary to that. Full size doors make getting him in and out are nice, swing out cups, nice too, but big is best. cage material either stainless steel ($$$) , aluminum ( $$) or powder coarted steel ($) do not get steel with regular paint, those are junk. Above are listed in cost and ease of cleaning and care. Dont worry your English is fine

Welcome, Jacquie! Thanks for adopting Xavier and Eddie and improving their lives. Parrots are indeed wonderful companions and return so much to their humans!

Good luck with the cage, "wrench13" gave the best of advice! Very important to avoid cheap leaded paint, or toys with lead!
