Brown headed parrot and two budgies.
Hi everyone,
I am soon to be the proud parent of a brown headed parrot. Have had birds my whole life, but this is my first big kid. Any one out there have brown heads and what advice should I know? I did do a lot of homework but personal stories are the best. He will be weaned in about a month. Looking into the best place to buy a huge cage. What bar spacing are ok?
Any advice as to what these guys are like for you and fun toys etc would help. It was easy with my cockatiel, he was cool with what ever I was doing and rode on my shoulder all day long. Miss him. I now want a bigger guy to play with and who wont out live me, but its going to be a close tie. LOL
Thanks

Congratulations!!! Excited to meet em!!! Make sure wrsned by abundance!!! Not forced weaned. If you want to harness train have it bought and at home so when you get your baby start right away! Let the baby fledge naturally even if you plan on clipped wings as adult it is so important in development and mental health to let them fledge and learn to fly, talk to breeder that you don't want wings clipped,I waited to long before talking to my breeder and she clipped my poor baby beft he fledged. Babies ate good at trying new stuff so get those veggies ready and eat with him he will try them better by watching you

Welcome to you and your forthcoming bird! Not familiar with Brown-Headed parrots, but they appear beautiful and roughly the size of a small Amazon or large Conure?

You are talking about the "Poicephalus cryptoxanthus " right? (sorry to be the snotty european, but the local names get me confused sometimes, so using the official make and model of the bird cuts down on confusion for me.)

So it basicly a senegal with different colours?
(most of us know that little fellow, so we can relate in size and behaviour)

Welcome Brownhead!
Also I don't really know this spiecies and my knowledge ends on their plumage. I would say this is like senegal without yellow belly ;) (Christa I understand your confusion also here names sometimes are totally different than in English, yes Poicephalus cryptoxanthus)
