Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
We had a good training session to night, and I managed to catch 2/3'rds of it on video. Excuse the slow start, I am still figuring this video stuff out. He performs like a champ, though. Enjoy!

Thanks guys, from Salty and I. He works soooo hard during these nightly sessions. I lay out the tricks for the night on the floor next to the table, and before we start, Salty will run over and peer over the side to see what we'll be doing for the session. I wish I could capture that, he does the parrot turning his head to the side to look at the toys, then comes hopping over to the middle of the table to start.

Al the boy is anxious to please! Why not? All those pine nut treatie things I see him munch on lol. Still..VERY IMPRESSIVE BROTHER!

Hee Hee, I sent the video disguised as a business email to my domestic counterpart , and he opened it up and started laughing. He told me before he knew it, the entire QVC department was jammed into his office, all laughing at Salty tricks.

SALTY goes VIRAL at QVC Department!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely brilliant what a clever little boy you have should be so proud

Awesome video, Al!! You've done a wonderful job with Salty, and he is an exceptional companion. Really impressed with his long attention span!

Al, I hope someday veterinary science can offer some sort of stem cell transplants to turn Rickeys into Saltys.

@fowlstack , no I don't use a clicker, never have. Salty recognizes my 'good boy' as having done an action correctly, and of course he gets his little schnibble of pine next as his reward.

Ms. K, that's amazing , last night I started Salty on an almost exactly the same trick. The trick is to sort the colored rings into the colored boxes we have, shown in our video. When I watched the video you linked I was like wow, she must have been reading our minds! I keep trying to come up with new tricks to keep his mind supple. Also last nite, he stepped up onto my hand while wearing his harness. That's a big deal for him, he's always refused it before.

I been thinking. (As Curly would say, I thought I smelled something burning!) Wrench, you are not teaching salty the ways of the free booting life. Shouldn't he be sorting colored gems into treasure chests? Carrying a tiny shovel over to the X on the map? Picking out the bottle with the most rum in it? Climbing into the crow's nest with a spyglass? Walking the plank? He's not prepared for life on the high seas!
