New Method for Dealing with Cracker's Biting Problem

Not all is a bed of roses with Cracker. He still likes to bite and has given me a few good chops since my last post. I have adopted a new method to deal with his biting problem. Now what I do when he bites me is push back against him. I have used this method twice so far and he has let go of my finger really fast.

If this works for him, it works for him and that's cool. Just keep it a gentle nudge rather than a push if you're going to use that method.

What do you mean "push back" at him? I would be worried of pushing to hard and hurt Kiwi. I found that (sometimes) if I say "Hey" or "No Bite" in a stern louder tone, she stops.....but if I draw back my hand, she goes into a little attack mode!! They are definitely Jekyll/Hyde personalities!!

I'd also be careful with 'pushing' depending on exactly what you mean. But NOT pulling away is important.

When Auggie gets in that mode I hold my ground and he looses interest quickly and I get only lazy bite. This especially works when he targets a hand: I make a fist and keep it where it was and he doesn't do much.

If/when I try to pull away he latches on with full force and starts thrashing. That's when I loose chunks of flesh.

I like that method a lot, just letting the bord lose interest. Because you should teach birdie that he won't get the kind of attention he's hoping for by biting you or acting up.

Small world... when Mishka attempts to bite, or does something she know is wrong, I make a fist as well, give her a stern uh uh. She then lowers her head. I then say say sorry, she says sorry and gives me a kiss.
