Welcome to the forum!

Hello to my new friends. I have a 18 month old rainbow lorikeet. To show how close we are to each other after her last checkup in september i told my vet her feathers grew back in again and i don't want to clip her again. My point is each morning she takes a short flight ouside my house but always comes back when i whistle to her. This has been going on for about 4 months. She sees me standing outside so she knows where to fly back to. Here name is rambo and she seems much happier being able to fly. Any comments. Have a nice day everyone.x

Happy to have you here. You are taking a risk with your bird outside. I hope she does not fly away.

Hi Alan and welcome to the forum, I'm sure rambo loves the fact she has full flight as most birds probably would, you didn't mention your location, but I can only hope its condusive to the survival of rambo should she choose to not come back, and that you'd be ok with it should that happen, I know for myself I'd be heartbroken if any of my fids were to never return, I wish you and rambo all the best for a long and lasting relationship together :)

Hello my name is kyle. I have a 3 year old female eclectus parrot named bella. She is quite a character like right now she is begging my wife for food cause she is in the kitchen lol. I like pretty much anything to do with being outside my favs are fishing and camping. I hope I can be of some help here thank you for your time.

Good morning. A little about myself. I live in Israel on a kibbutz where everyone knows my lorikeet.I only let her fly freely in the morning when there is no wind at all and fairly quite so we can whistle to each other. I wear a yellow vest so she knows where she is.About losing her I am willing to chance that. I hate to see birds in cages with no reaction from their owners. If she flys away I will be sad but at least I know she was a happy bird.Thank you letting me join your forum.

Hi and welcome
Great that your Lorikeet has freedom to fly, how long have you had her?.
You mentioned that you hate to see birds in their cages without any reaction from their owners, surely this does not apply to your bird I am sure. It sounds like you do not use a harness on the bird. Yet you are willing to take a chance even if it means loosing your bird. You also mentioned that you will be sad but as least she was a happy bird.
If she is a happy bird now, why chance loosing her, how long will she survive in the wild for, and you will never ever know that she is safe or even alive.

I am new to the bird forum scene... I must admit this one is very active, informative, and entertaining:D

I have 3 birds, a cat, a ton of fish, oh .... and do kids count? ;) if they do I have three of them too. I keep busy. when my kids are at school, my feathered friends Gus, Chi Chi, and Mystery keep the conversation going. Never a dull moment in this house.
Any way I love the site and I think I will stick around for a while ;)
