I have a conure, Flipper. He is two. And a african Grey. Her name is Lacey, she will be a year in Dec. She had been with us since May. During the week I let the birds out for a couple hours before I leave for work. Then when I get home they are let out for the rest of the day, until bedtime. They are both great snugglers and love attention. I have never had a problem getting them on my finger and back into their cages, until last week. Flipper is still great, however Lacey has started to act very strange. She gets very upset, will not come to me, she screeches and falls on the floor. I'm thinking she is having a temper tantrum, because she is more than willing to come to me right after I let her out of her cage. And I have no problem at night handleing her. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
Also my husband and I are building a new house next spring. I am concerned about toxins from paints and varnishes and other things that could harm my flock. I forgot to mention my little canary, his name is Valentino.

Hello. I am Chris and this is Bella

Hi, I am new to these chat rooms so please forgive me if I am not doing something right. I found my calling with parrots. I have Macaws, a Grey, Cuban Amazon, Caiques, Sun Conures, Quakers, Princess of Wales and Cockatiels. Whether they are breeders or pets, I love each one of them dearly. I enjoy working with birds, rehabilitating birds and hand feeding babies. My true pride and joy is my Hyacinth, Talara. She is such a nut. She will be 2-1/2 in December and she is on the go all the time. But she can be such a love. My birds teach me something new everyday and I look forward to exchanging ideas and offering my help where needed.

Hi!! I'm Cindy and found your forum through a friend of mine who is also a member here. I have found some very interesting info browsing through the posts. I'm glad my friend told me about this forum. I have several "babies". I am a vet tech and I'm also a wildlife rehabber. I look forward to meeting new people and sharing ideas.

What types of babies do you have

Thank you for the welcome. I'm looking forward to some great info and ideas from this forum. I am a vet technician or pet nurse as some animal hospitals like to call their technicians. I work in a pretty good size clinic with 5 vets and even though I deal with the dogs and cats, I am the technician that is called upon to work with any avian, exotic or wildlife that walks in the door. My "babies" consist of Military macaws, a B&G, CAG's, conures, a goffin, a severe, quaker, senegal, cockatiels, and a lovebird, dogs, cats and a bunny ( a rescue). They are all a very big part of our family.:green1:

hi guys! my name is simon from north queensland, australia, i'm pretty new to birds i have a 5 month old moustache parrot named ned, he's fantastic! look foward to all ur stories!

Yesterday my husband and our two cats added a 15 month old Meyer's Parrot to our family. I admit that I'm really rather nervous right now.

A few years ago we adopted a lovebird that someone was giving away on craigslist. After providing a bigger cage, lots of toys, and a better diet the bird stopped plucking its feathers. But I was unprepared to deal with its behavior issues and ultimately had to give it away.

I'm just hoping to reinforce the right behaviors so that our Meyer's Parrot can be with us for many, many years to come.

hi im jim, i have a baby grey named oliver. oly is very gentle, loves his toys, however there is a cockatoo who lives in our house who screams constantly, oly is starting to mimic the cockatoo, when he wants my attention or when i leave the room, any suggestions?

Hi All,

I joined this site Because i need advice and help.

I know while there is No way to stop old age .
I am concerned for Figaro .
I got Figaro after Feeding 4 Congo's as New borns
the Breeder offered me moneys but i asked for the bird who had given me kisses daily for 2 months .
so now for a cage for a bird that was going to grow .
One in paper 500.00 went to pick it up and the bird was still in it .
Owner said im sorry but the cage cant go today my wife was supposed to get the bird to the vet to be put down.
Worried i asked is he sick ?
Nope just liked to eat my hands . the owner fed him Sunflower seeds for 4 yrs .
He was fat and unhealthy but all he needed was Real food.
So i Begged and i do mean Begged for the birds life .
now 10 yrs later im loosing him.
Please i need help for Figaro .
Baby has been more of a Mother to her all her life .
when she stopped eating after letting the breeder have the other 3 greys she stopped eating and Baby fed her .
she took to him as if he was her Mom.
IM scared and worried .
Do any of you have any ideas ?

Hi,

My name is Ed. We have a Sun Conure named Sonny whom joined the family one year ago today. He is a sweetie. He is healthy and happy, yet Sonny has a couple issues I need to work on and I have no idea where to start. Ergo, we have come here to find help and see how to make everyone in the family happy.

Sunny is out in his favorite tree by the porch at the moment ... enjoying the sun and fresh air.

Welcome to the forums. Have a look around - many things we face as parrot owners have been faced by others.

Whatever the issues, we will try assist you.
Take care, and that of our feathered friends !!!!
