Just joined the forum. I have been a macaw lover ever since I was little. I was fortunate enough to grow up with macaws. Now that I'm an adult I have been considering getting one for myself. Excited to be here!

I have been going into the only rescue I know of near me. Most of their birds are plucked. It makes me really really sad to see plucked birds I knew cocatoos were prone to plucking but I didn't realize it was so prevalent with macaws as well. I feel bad because I really don't want to take on a bird with plucking problems. I have been going back and forth on trying to adopt a bird vs getting a baby.

I have also been trying to decide on species. I grew up with a Blue & Gold, a Green Wing, and a Hyacinth. We ocaisioanly watched a Buffons and he was stunning. The Hyacinth was by far my favorite. Her personality was amazing my heart would melt every time she would try and talk. I don't know how I'm going to be able to choose just one when they all are so awesome in their own way.

Hello and welcome! Please don't feel bad because you would rather not have a plucker...they are a challenge for sure, and hard on the emotions.
If you want a baby, I say go for it
