RIP "pineapple" lovebird
Hi there!
I lost my CAG to cancer about a month ago and after about a week decided I wanted to find a new bird. I didn't really have a huge chunk (500) set aside so wasn't able to buy a baby and thought I would look on craigslist. I do have a 3 year old lovebird as well.
Long story short I made an offer on a blue front amazon that she didn't take. I found a bird breeder near me and after several visits I placed a deposit on the sweetest most beautiful 13 week old turquoise green cheek conure. Then she called and asked if I would come visit the amazon as she was moving and needed her in a new home ( would take my offer). So "Chiqui" came home with me yesterday.
Her nails are very long and she was only eating people food. I made a vet appointment for this week. I have her DNA paperwork and called "bird paradise" which is where she came from- she was born in September of 2010. She is nervous about my cats and dogs, but seems like she is looking to me for comfort. Her cage here (my old CAGs) has toys and perches which she didn't have in her old home. I started offering some
Nutriberries and roudybush along with fresh veggies but she doesn't seem interested yet.

My conure came home today. Good thing I have a very flexible work
Schedule and am home a lot :) he/she has the DNA test going out in tomorrow's mail. I haven't named her/him until I get that back. I splurged on many new toys and a cage. The breeder weaned him/her onto roudybush so that's what I have in the cage for the pellet diet.
I'm so excited but so far have just spent a half hour (two sessions near Chiqui) sitting near the cage of each bird talking to them and watching tv or reading.

I definitely hadn't intended to get two but here I am!

Hello and Welcome! I'm very sorry about the loss of your CAG.

Sounds like you ended up with two beautiful adoptees. Best of luck with both of them.

We love photos if you'd like to share.

Hi and welcome! So sorry for your loss!

There will never be a dull moment in your household now...lol.

Can't wait to see pics of your flock.

I'll have to put pics up a little later today. Theyre beautiful! The breeder told me my conure may not eat the first day. Somebody forgot to tell him/her that! We had dinner together last night. Doesn't seem to like my play stand. So I had to hold the dish in my right hand while he/she sat on that and munched away on some green beans, broccoli, pasta, mango, and cantaloupe.
Chickys old owner texted me last night to see how she was and asked if I would mind them periodically checking as they miss her greatly. That made my night... Just to know she was truly cared for means she was the right choice.
