two Blue and Gold Macaws
named Charlie and Cookie
Hi I have two B&G macaws and they are my babies, I also have a staffie and a husky. I just recently got my feathered friends from different people and my little boy has had his wings clipped or rather one looks as though it was hacked not clipped, but my little girl is feather perfect well she is compared to my little boy. I have always wanted a B&G but never had the chance to own one up until now so I am a complete novice when it comes to looking after them. They are in separate cages, my little girl's is 4ft by 6ft corner cage and my little boy's is smaller but still big enough for him, so my living room has been taken over by them, I let them out of their cages everyday and found that Cookie my little girl loves chewing the wallpaper she has loads of toys in her cage and she is quite vocal with her screeching if I leave the room, but Charlie my little boy just sits there not doing anything not even screeching, he comes onto me and he will kiss me but that's it. When I got Cookie I knew she had been looked after but with Charlie his owner was upset to see him go but I'm not so sure on his care for him as there was nothing in his cage no proper perches or any toys not even any food dishes. I just wonder if someone can give information on how to get this loving little boy to looking as good as my little girl, who hasn't had her wings clipped all help really appreicated. :blue1: :blue1:

Welcome to the forum, Pauline. :) And many congrats on your 2 big Macs Cookie & Charlie. :)

I think Charlie may still need more time to settle in properly, that's why he is so quiet.

Frequent baths, a good, healthy, varied diet and lots of TLC will make his feathers glow in no time.

Have you got any pics to share with us? We all love pictures. :D

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your two new B+G macaws.:)
