New macaw

Great story and congrats on your new baby.
Yes, broken tail feathers are very commons for baby birds, they fall a lot, it always amazes me how they survive in the wild. i guess they don't fall from trees much.
Macaws form very strong bonds with their owners so I'm sure you will have a great relationship with Jax.
Do your homework on making him a bird room and remember that birds are very social and love to be around it's owner much part of the day.
Macaws are not too expensive so I hope you do not face money issues. The most expensive thing when it comes to Macaws is Cage, playstands or gyms, toys, some foods, vet visits. I approx spend $1700.00 year for both my boys not including cages and playstands.
I'm not sure if you have taken a shower with your Macaw so if you have not, I would advise you to do so ASAP, they just love showers and this speeds up the bonding time for both you and your Macaw. Love the picture of Jax and best of luck to both of you. Joe

Not all macaws like water. Mine is terrified of it from the day he came home.

Thank you Jjones1719, I have a Blue and Gold, and foster other birds as well, so I am familiar with their care and have a great home for them. I am very excited to have Jax enter our family and gain a new friend out of it too.

So is JAx part of the family-family or the rescue- family and looking to be rehomed? :D

Nope, good try Mara, Jax is family now.

Darn it! I can try though. lol I'm sure you will just love him. RFM are so different from any other bird I have met, that's why I chose Elvis and after losing him I chose another RFM. Idk what it is maybe their charm. They def. can put on some charm lol and they pick up on your personality well and mimick it so well so they're always in tune with you. It's amazing.

Jax and I have been bonding. Here is a pic of us on the first day he decided he wanted scritches rather than perching and poking about. He is such a great little bird.
