New Macaw need cage advice.

@ Karen
Here is a pic of the latch you asked for. Someone had suggested a lock and that would not be hard to attach to this. Tried to take a pic of the dish but . LOL Watermelon is the treat tonight so would loose my fingers and Phone lol If you want a pic of the dish just let me know. He is just about done

So the cage showed up, and it was what I expected, low quality but good enough. Some of the bars were bent, the seed guard took a lot of work to get bent back to a usable shape. came with a few places of chipped coating, but it did come with "paint" to cover those spots. The perch was bent, mangled, covered in black oil and broken on one end, so even if I wanted to use it I could not.

Putting together was easy, although whoever did the directions have a different definition of "interchangeable" then the rest of the world. Because of the construction it was necessary to use a wooden dowel as a perch spanning the width of the cage at the location of the dishes. The two side peaces have very little support and as such could not support free hanging perches.

All that being said, it is a massive cage and well worth the money. You get a lot of cage for the money. I really would have been disappointed with the A&E playtop.

Thanks so much for the update. :) It IS a great looking, ENORMOUS cage, and I'm sure "Pirate" (what will you call her????) will have years of enjoyment in her palace. :D

Get the larger cage If you plan on having him caged a lot. I have an umbrella cockatoo's cage has to be at least 6 or more feel. Its à pièce of furniture. My sweetie has full run supervised. Dont let him stay in à little cage. This is my first parrot Ive had him for a yr now & i love him.
