I just got my new lovebird today and I'm worried because he is moving around the cage but he can't seem to find his food.
What should I do?

What can't he find?

Sorry I was in a rush typing he can't find his food and water.

With babies, I put my hand near the food &/or water bowls, and with my finger extended, tap the food or water. So, it looks like another bird pecking at it. Like you were tapping your finger on a table. They usually get the idea.

Is he in a separate cage to the one you got last month?

The older bird should be able to teach him, unless he's way too young.. How old is this new one?

Show him where it is. Maybe you can set him on the bowls and show him it's there.

Are you sure he's even hungry? He could have less appetite from moving stress.

He is about 3 months from what the breeder said and no they in separate cages in separate rooms. And he might just have stress from moving not sure though

When I got Bob it took a day or two before she would eat in front of me.

I had to do this when I first placed Mishka in a big cage.
Sit the bird nearby the bowls. You dip your fingertips into the water, play with the water. Then try touching his beak with your wet fingertips. Do the same with the food, LoL I even had to eat the pellets ........ worked like a dream.

It is stressful for us, thinking they are not eating and drinking.

Perhaps the bird is stressed, try the above mentioned now and again, when he is hungry and thirst enough, believe me he will eat and drink.

U can also try putting small crocks on the bottom of the cage with food and water in. my lovebirds love to play on the bottom of the cage so maybe he will find it faster there till he gets more comfy in his new home. I always have food bowls on the bottom of the cages for my babies so maybe ur breeeder did too.
