Parrots
Two beautiful lovebirds called kiki and ace.
Hi, my boyfriend recently brought home two lovebirds, not sure what kind, he didn't ask. All the information given was they are a proven pair and they are a year old.
We've had them for 3 days, they appear to be relaxed in their cage, they are eating well, will look at me when I talk to them but as expected they are nervous and will fly away from me. Recently, the one that is meant to be a female, seems to be a little bit less nervous and will stay on her perch when I approach the cage. I also managed to get both of them to nibble off the end of a millet spray which I held in my hand inside the cage. I have let them out of the cage every day and they do fly back in themselves after about an hour usually. They have loads of toys which they are not interested in yet, I've been trying to show them how to play with them. I also have a selection of natural wood perches as well as the dowel rod one that was in the cage. They are eating and drinking well, and are both singing. When I came home from work yesterday they wouldn't shut up when they saw me and they were flying all around their cage and hoping around chattering which I hope means they were happy to see me.
I'm just a complete novice to this, I work with birds of prey so my boyfriend assumed that I would automatically know how to look after all birds - clearly he was wrong.
I was just hoping for any advice and some feedback on if what I am doing is correct.
I've uploaded a photo, sorry if it's not that good quality, and also excuse my wall, we were in the process of redecorating.

Beautiful birds. I have found that food is the way to get parrots to like you, the millet is a good idea.

It can take a while for them to get used to their new surroundings, but from what you have said they are settling in well.

Sounds like you are doing a good job at this point.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Your new Lovies are gorgeous!
It sounds like you are making progress with them, and the addition of toys and natural branches is awesome.
Have you been able to get them to eat fresh veggies yet? My Lovies go crazy for almost any veggies I put in their chop, and they also love a leaf of kale stuck through the bars.
You seem to be a natural at this:)

Beautiful birds! My lovebird loves to chew and shred so wood toy designed for smaller birds to destroy may entice them, if you haven't already provided those. What have you named them? Great job so far and good luck!

They have eaten some veggies and fruit. They seem to like broccoli and pepper and strawberries. I'm trying to give them the veggies first before the fruit to make sure they get used to eating them.
They are called kiki (the blue one) and ace.
I've tried using shredding toys. I even sat there tearing up bits of paper in front of them to show them how to do it. Haha.
