Hi u guys i just been stressing because i just got a new jandaya conure and well the lady that i got him from told me that he was 2 months old and that he was eating on his own well the day that i got him i came home and i cover him and i let him relax i just didnt want to stress him even more so i left him in the cage cover him up and just let him obe the next day i got up early and i tried to give him some sedes and i put food on his cage but he didnt even eat so i left him alone for a bit but every time that i check to see him if he was eating so i got scared so i went to the pet store and got him formula and since then he has been eating formula he start it to pick on the seads but he still rather eat formula..... so my question is
is it normal for my baby to still be eating formula he is only "2" months old

I would think a 2 month old conure should be fully weaned by now. I know my African Grey was weaned at 3 months and he is a larger bird. The smaller the bird the shorter the time frame to wean I'm pretty sure.

There are lots of people on this board who could give you some better advice in this department. But my guess is he should be eating solid food by now. Also look into a good pelleted diet. It is much better for them then a seed diet. You could also find out from the breeder what food he/she weaned your baby onto. That way you can get the same food to help transition him/her.

Good luck!

Ask the person you got the bird from what he was eating with them. Because he may be more comfortable with fresh fruits and veg or pellets. At that age he is just weaned so reverting back to what he knew prior to the new food (meaning formula) is not abnormal. My guy came home at 8 weeks and I fed him the pellets he was used to. He was
Also used to veg so he took right to my chop.
