Hello: I am the proud owner of a young G2 that I just brought home last Sunday. So far so good, but the breed is very new for me since my last bird was a TAG. I think what makes me nervous is coming home and finding that my bird had started picking his feathers out. I took him to the vet earlier this week and we noticed some bald spots appearing under his wings in the armpit area. He is going through a big molt with a lot of new feathers trying to grow in, as well as some blood feathers growing out along his wings. We thought that maybe with the new feathers coming in that may be causing some discomfort, in which I hope thats the case.
I know Cockatoos are prone to feather picking, but how old do they start ( mine is about 2yrs old). Another question I had is when do Cockatoos start being vocal?
