Hey, all y'all! Greetings from the great Empire of Montana! It may be early summer on the flatlands, but here in the Rockies it's still quite cool in the evenings and pleasantly warm in the afternoons. My husband and I are both retired Air Force officers and chose our little mountain town to call our forever home. Montana really is the last, best place. He's a physician for the Department of Corrections and I'm a full-time freelance writer. For 18 years we had the beloved companionship of our Paddywack, a Congo African Grey. Paddy was a remarkable bird and his death was a terrible tragedy; he and I were very close. The parakeets and the finches are sweet little twittery guys but once you've had a Grey touch your life, nothing else will do. SO today we welcomed Bindy into our home and lives. She was hand fed, now fully weaned; what a precious little lady she is! Her eyes are still dark, and her tail feathers are not quite the scarlet that they'll become. She makes some vocalizations, with sounds and noises to follow, I'm sure. Our pack of 12 mini-Dachshunds keep things lively and noisey, so Bindy will fit in with our family easily. BTW, Bindy is named after the daughter of the late Steve Irwin -- a tribute to this Aussie wildlife expert who was taken from the world too soon.
