New first time Macaw owner.

Hi all, I just got a blue and gold macaw today. She is 6 years old and her name is Tova. She had a rough start in life and her beak is crooked. She's not real keen on me touching her but we will work on it slowly.

Wow! Very pretty bird, almost doesn't look real her plumage is so perfect. Good feather is usually an indication of good physical health. Working on behavior and socialization will come in time, of course. She is a young bird, so even if she has had some traumatic experiences in life, she should bounce bak pretty quick in a loving environment. Best of luck with your pretty girl!

Tova is beautiful and thanks for adopting her. Macaws need lots and lots of chewing toys, so make sure she is provided with them. Because of her beak she may enjoy softer woods , like Balsa wood, to chew on, or soft pine. Its a must to keep their beaks in good condition. Fresh veggies, fruit and pellets to provide protein and vitamins, and you will one happy healthy bird, for life. Seeds are for treats and training.
