We are bringing home a new family! Husband fell in love with her when she stepped up for him and let him pet her and scratch her head. I told him he had to name her. He's named her Venus. I love it! I'm hoping he and Venus will bond because Buddy is not nice to husband.

We got her from a shop we visited today. It wasn't planned either. We walked in to visit and this one started interacting with me, stepped up on command, let me scratch her head and beak. I turned to Husband and offered her to him and he paused but he touched her head and she reached over climbing on his arm and got close to him and let him keep scratching. This girl suckered him in. She's 8 months old and the "Birdman" as we call him, started asking us if we knew how to care, and feed her. I explained we have a cage ready, we do know how to care for her. She was with another bird hence the bald patch. That was the first thing I ask about, looked her over and she is lovely. Her wings are clipped so this will be interesting. I've tasked Husband with caring for her, food and water and to interact with her. Hes so excited. I'm hoping she will bond with him. Buddy hasn't seen her yet, I'm expecting a fit when he hears her. Quarantine in effect.

Now while we were there, this stinker was trying hard to get my attention and was jealous of Venus. He kept trying to get close to me, talking, fluffing up even running from the Birdman. I told him not to worry he was good and it was fine but he sure was being a sassy stinker lol.

She is settled in her larger cage and she bit me, didn't break the skin just a warning. I placed her in the travel cage while we prepared her home cage and when I reached to take her out, zing! So out came the stick, she is stick trained so I gave Husband a lesson on how to get her to step on the stick. I made popcorn and gave some to Venus and Buddy. Venus is going to town. When we first got home I gave her some blueberries, red pepper, dried papaya and a couple of peanuts. Food is a winner and she's playing with the bell toys I put in her cage. She's still nervous but she's eaten and drank water. She's already turned her water into soup too so husband knows why her water has to be changed several times a day. So far so good.

I am so happy for you and your husband! And Venus of course, she found a great home! Is this hubby's first bird? I will hold thumbs that she does bond with him!

What a beauty! It's awesome that your hubby bonded with her and that he's so excited to welcome her home. It's nice when both you and your partner have a mutual love for parrots :) I look forward to more pictures and the stories to come

Awh, she's adorable! I love Eclectus parrots :)
Congratulations on the new addition to the family!
