Hi folks. So after spending past few days visiting with a potential dusky conure who picked me, I brought him home today. Tomorrow morning I need to work and I am wondering if the guy will be ok alone for about 8 hours with the tv left on. He is seeing me as the anchor per say and sits on the side of the cage closest to the couch where I am. I have been putting my hand in there and he has been sitting on it and being very happy. I feel bad I have to leave him alone for 8 hours but I canā€™t find someone to fill in. I was told by the parrot shop he will be fine as long as I leave a radio or tv on for him and give him toys to play with. I just donā€™t want him stressing out cause Iā€™m not around.

He lets out little chirps when Iā€™m on the couch but the second I get out of sight, he starts squeaking for me. Canā€™t imagine how tomorrow will be šŸ˜¢

Forgot to post some pics. Not the best but I didnā€™t want to stuff an iPhone in his face since he is trying to adjust.

Thanks. He won me over when I got there. I was looking at a white front amazon and then saw this little guy hanging at the front of the cage looking at me. I then spent some time with him in the aviary house and we learned touch trick and he decided I was for him and rode on my head the next few days I came in to spend time with him before taking him home. Today when I was hanging out with him, he decided to sit on my shoulder and sing in my ear. Then at home, he really wanted to sit on my hand. I love this little chicken. Gonna let him settle in and then take him to my vet for his biannual check up.

I had a female dusky conure a few years ago she was an absolute sweetie, loveable litlle thing. Very quiet conure. My ex kept her she refused to give her up. I have recently acquired a baby half moon which is turning out to be awesome too.

They are such lovely little parrots,Im sure it will be fine,I leave the radio on for mine even if Im only in the garden,as she calls for me every time I go out of her sight. They are quite clingy. I always imagined if the cage door was left open they would have a nice fly around, but not so,she sticks to me like glue, quacking in my ear!

Hi there. Your baby sounds wonderful.
I know exactly what you mean about having to leave him alone. I think he'll be ok. One of the things I do is play "conure" noises to my baby, and interact everytime I pass the cage; sticking my hand in, petting, talking, etc. Your bird will acclimate to your schedule and I know you will pay lots of attention when you are home. Glad you found each other.

When life is normal, I work outside the home and my conures have adjusted. Lots of toys, sounds from the radio seems to do the trick in our house. Your little guy is adorable!
