Here is how we have our cage set up for when we pick our Caique. OK for a Caique? Any suggestions? The water cup will go on the access door on the left (near the back); and there will be two food cups on the right side. One will be on the access door (near the back), and the other will be on the right side near the front. We still have some more foot toys to pick up. We are planning to have two or three sets of hanging toys, and rotate them every month. Any suggestions / ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Looks okay to me, maybe one or two more toys? May I ask where you bought that cage?

I believe it may have been from birdcages4less. We bought in online about 20 years ago.

What other types of toys would you recommend?

Looks like a great start! More perches of differing widths and material (soft-grip pedicure perches, java wood perches, maybe a swing, a mix of good foraging, shredding and chewing toys! I got my last batch at Bonka bird toys based in Florida, your caique may appreciate another 3-4 more toys and perches.

Thanks, we have two more perches (natural wood branches) to put in yet, and will be purchasing more foot toys / small shredding toys (to go along with the larger one hanging from the back right top. We have been looking for some foraging toys, but most of what we see is for larger parrots. What type of foraging toys for a caique would you suggest?

I think the cage is perfect, just some extra toys which you could probably just add over time. Why not put in a Seagrass wall for playing. I turned a Seagrass square into platform for playing with foot toys. Caiques love rolling on their backs so appreciate they soft play areas.

Itzjbean gave great advice, so I'll refrain from "parroting" (Get it? ) their post.

Sounds good. We know that they like to roll on their backs and play. We had a washcloth that we put down for our Pionus. Can you find the seagrass online? I checked and can't seem to locate it.

latest cage additions. A natural wood perch at upper left with varying diameters, a pedi perch on the door and another to step onto to get to the food cup at the back right of the cage. There is another food cup at the upper right of the cage (one for pellets and the other for veggies and fruits), and one on the back left for water. We just got a "bathtub' that we have to clean / disinfect to put near the lower right-front. We also put a 'happy hut' on the back. We have more foot toys ordered, and are working on obtaining more hanging toys to swap in and out every 4-5 weeks. Ideas? Suggestions?
