I've recently acquired a new bird and I need help convincing it to play with the toys in the cage. Before I left for work I left some treats hidden in the toys to see if my bird goes after them at all. If this doesn't work does anyone have any suggestions?

1. What kind of bird?

2. How old?

3. What is this bird's history, if you know?

Need more info to advise you.

Agreed with bird man.

Also, many birds take time to settle in and start to play, or don't like the particular toys you provided, etc.

Okay, first of all, this bird is very young... so it might just be a matter of time. Just hasn't learned to do it yet.

Secondly, if the toy is too big, the bird might shy away from it.

Third, a lot of birds need to be introduced to toys. Play with the bird and the toy on your lap. Introduce the bird to playing with it... then hang it up in the cage.

Hiding treats in the toys is another good way of introducing them to it, plus learning to forage for food is a good thing in and of itself.
