New bird!! I think it's a cinnamon!

While I was in the kitchen preparing the turkey for the oven I was startled by several whistling sounds coming from my living room. I quietly peeked in and there was the Tiel, completely fascinated with Pipers old toy. Piper never showed any interest in the toy so I took it out a few months ago and disinfected then put it away. I put it in for the Tiel so she'd have something to play with. It has two small circular mirrors on it (about 3/4 inch diameter) surrounded with colorful plastic rings.

She was quite excited to see herself in the mirror and was wolf whistling at herself! I laughed out loud and was happy to see her being active and happy instead of sitting motionless in fear. I wasn't sure how soon she'd feel comfortable enough to start vocalizing but I sure didn't expect it this soon!
And I wasn't sure how Piper would react to another bird in the house but she's very curious. They haven't met but Piper knows she's here. Piper is just as happy and chirpy as she was before I brought the new bird home, if not more so. She even said something new today but I didn't catch what it was. So maybe eventually the two will play together :) Oh I hope so!!

Ours (Canadians) celebrate it in October, but I hope you enjoy yours!

I'll see what I can find :)

I was just thinking what is the best parrot to have

ok, I got a lot of good info from the Canadian Cockatiel Society.
I posted your beautiful pictures(thanks again for letting me do that)

you have a female, cinnamon, split to pied cockatiel...

meaning it carries the pied gene, so if you were to breed her with a pied male, they would produce pied offspring, along with cinnamon, but that depends on the dad....which there probably won't be cause I don't think you were intending on breeding her.

Thank you so much! Very interesting :)
