As some of you know, my wife is now working at Petco.. Her way of trying to make sure none of the horror stories happen.. At least on her watch..

There was a bird at one of the other stores.. Its cage was filthy, It's been at the stores for over a year, labeled a mean bird, cause it bit the lady that was "taking care" of the birds.. And I use that term lightly...

The bird was neglected, smelled like fermented, stale old beer with yeast growing in it... Slime covered... Eating it's own feces... She's tiny, not much bigger than a parakeet and she's over a year old... Poor baby..

The person responsible lost their job, the bird went to the vet, was moved to the store my wife and caring people are at..

Long story short... We're adopting her tomorrow... She's skiddish, hasn't been fooled with... But, I think she'll be a great bird, with a little work..

Poor baby she is lucky to have found you and your wife. She will have a great home. and congrats:)

It is sad... The poor baby... But i can't wait to get her... How are green cheeks different from sun's??? Quieter I know.. But... Anything else I should be aware of?

Thank you for rescuing that poor little greenie! I hope you will post pics when you get her.

Please post pictures of her when you can. I would love to see her.

I'm no expert by any means, but I can tell you that mine, anyway, is like a two yr old, always testing boundaries, a bit nippy(mine is still a baby, 3 months old) he loves to play and gets overstimulated easily. If my 5yr old son is being hyper, he picks up on that, and is hyper too. He isn't very loud at all, maybe once or twice a day he will give a loud SQUEAKSQUEAK call, and gives little chirps throughout the day, but that's it. From what I understand you own larger parrots, so a gcc should be easy for you! I hope that was helpful, and bless you for taking that poor baby out of that situation. Good luck!

I love gcc's!!! My daughter has one and he has stolen my heart! They are very sweet! From what I understand a sun may be louder yes but a bit more cuddlier. Gcc are cuddly however they can also be a bit nippy. I think that they are definatley the little bird with the big bird attitude. Skittles can be a little nippy at times (however he is a baby and I understand that it is common in young gcc's) He also loves to hang out with my daughter, sit under her hair on her shoulder while she does her homework. He is a busy little bird, very quiet and a big clown. Thank you for rescuing this baby, take it slow and have fun!

they are also smaller and most are a little less playful still playful just less than suns

I have pics, it post them in my album, that's all I can do... My tapatalk is out dated... Damn android...

But her name is Rain... She's a cutie..

My wife and I live in a small community, where life is slow, relaxed compared to big cities. We live in a place where life is precious, all life, regardless if human or animal, I read so many horror stories of neglect, it absolutely breaks my heart when I read them, Thank You for taking the time, and having the compassion to rescue the poor little thing. Please post a picture when you can, would love to see him/her

GCCs are often a lot more personable & funnier.....when you first posted this & before I read the whole post & subsequent posts to the thread, the reply that had popped into my thoughts was to ask who wore the pants (considering your earlier post about trying to talk your wife out of the petco job) at home.....really though, no offense meant.....

I'm the type that will let a person make there own mistakes.. I'm glad she did take the job.. Cause this neglected petco bird was saved by us..

But.. I'm afraid she'll be in too many situations where we can't save the bird... My wife is an adult woman, she's smart, very free spirited and is that person that every says is just sweet and loving...

I just don't want this job experience to take any more of that from her..

So rain is a cinnamon green cheek, weighs 10 grams.. Very under weight... Vet says she should weigh anywhere from 30-60...preferably closer to 40

And her hatch date is jan3 2012 poor baby spent over a year behind glass..

So, the vet said the bird is gaining weight and pretty quickly.. We're glad to hear it obviously...

She's still unsure and very shy around us.. But she's coming around and learning to step up..
