Yesss! She is getting used to me and is already fairly chirpy! She is learning that step up means transportation! She is becoming less stressed and is WANTING to come out more! Sheā€™s already coming around on day one just as Rico did! Do I have a charm? Or is it something else?
You are a Birb Whisperer! Seriously, you give out good vibes and they sense it. I know its an unpopular thing to say on this forum, and nobody loves budgies and wants what's best for them more than I do, BUT it is so much easier to handle a new budgie when their wings are trimmed. They learn quickly that the big two legged silly creature is their new transportation and food source and is really nice, too!
Her wings will grow out with her first molt in a month or two and by that time she will be completely tame and trusting.

Cricket and Rocky can have a sneaker destroying contest!

I do believe i may have a charm with birds and they sense my energy and are like ā€œhuh, big monkey who says words ainā€™t so bad.ā€

Hah you definitely do love budgies! Maybe an obsession? But it doesnā€™t hurt anybody lol

And as much as I dislike clips (not opposed to light trims, just whatever the heck pet stores do), I have learned that clipped birds are easier to tame but tend to be a little finicky if you are new to that species (with Rico for example, it took a week for him to chill out with the biting because I was trying to learn his behavior) and it can be bad if you donā€™t pay attention enough.

Cant wait for my little stick of butter to fly and wreak havoc upon me and anyone who dares enter the parrot lair!

My husband and I love our eight budgies so much! Maybe that makes us a bit obsessed. He never had birds until five years ago but just last night he woke up upset with a nightmare that Rocky had flown away! I assured him that Rocky was safe, though she could fly away if we were not careful because she's a very strong flier even with a slight wing trim.
Cricket is a lucky little girl!

Obsessed? Perhaps! But that just means you are great hoomans!

Ah those nightmares are the absolute worst! Itā€™s good that rocky was still there, I couldnā€™t imagine having a nightmare and waking up to find my birds gone!

Cricket very much is! She has a giant gentle playmate, a giant perch kingdom, and a developing home of her own! Her cage should be officially ready in mid June! As of right now, Iā€™ll just do what I can for her.

What cage are you getting?

I canā€™t really switch her cage since my mom wouldnā€™t be willing to order it or anything. until Iā€™ve get a job, I canā€™t get her a new cage sadly. But her current one will suffice, especially with daily out time.

Also, quick question, uh what do i do about me leaving from like 8 or 9 am to 10 or 11pm? Turns out I have a day trip out of town and I dunno how I deal with leaving town for the day. Will she be mad at me? Will she just revert to wilderness? I have never had to deal with something like this soā€¦. Yeah lol

I donā€™t think this will be a problem. Hide some food in her toys and give her some millet when you get home to apologize ;)

Well, cricketā€™s cage has a gap big enough for her to escape through in the bottom. So, I layered cardboard to keep her from escaping.

She is pitter pattering around furiously, trying to chew up the cardboard. Well, she canā€™t bite through it since itā€™s dang solid. her mission impossible was a fail, but my plan to foil her plans was a success!

When is this? Of just get up early and give her lots of love, put some cartoons on the TV, and leave them on

And when you get home give her lots of love for a half hour before going to sleep. I'm sure she will be fine but I understand how you feel- it kills me to have to leave Rocky from 7:30am till 8:30pm every Sunday and Monday when we work 11 hour shifts.
