This is Fiji! He is 7 weeks old today and a whopping 1300 grams!!! I think he's going to be a big boy!!! He's a DNA male and is the first born of his clutch of 3. He was born April 23rd.

These photos were taken yesterday at the breeders when we visited. He thoroughly enjoyed getting head scratches by both hubby and I.

This is the 2nd time we visited. Last time was 4 weeks ago. MY how much he's grown since then!!!

The little lady behind him is a DNA female Ruby Gold (Ruby Dad, B&G Mom). She was quite the handful being all loud and lunging at me every time I'd pet Fiji... she wanted ALL of the attention!! She would stop when I'd pet her.

The three greenwings just kicked back and shared the attention. The breeder ended up taking her out of the box because she was being such a handful!!!

We are super excited to bring him home and can't wait!!

May 13, 21 and 29. He's the biggest one in the pics with the other chicks.

Oops. Attached them all twice. The little baby ruby gold is in the 2nd pic with the caiques and eclectus.

I'm melting here!!! :smile015: Loved the sequence of photos so you can see with what lightning speed they grow (and change), LOL.

If he's 1300 already, with all that growing still to do, he's gonna be pushing the upper normal bracket for greenwing size. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he ended up tipping the scales at 1850-2100 by the time he finishes weaning.

Are his parents Big Uns? What they call "Bolivian" (actually from Columbia) greenwings?

Greenwings have always been one of my very favorites (obviously.)

We didnt get to see him this week due to the breeder having family in town!

Birdman666, I didnt ask her what the parents weighed. I will ask her more about them next week. The macaws are at her sisters house and all the smaller birds at hers. She brings them to her house after they are removed from the nestbox for handfeeding.

He's a big boy for sure. All three of them are.

So should I spring for the double macaw cage for Mount Fiji here? Seems silly to ask but we got a secondhand dometop cage, its huge, but only 40 wide. Im thinking it may be too small now. We have money in the budget for a 2nd cage for outdoors, but maybe we want the smaller one outdoors and a bigger one indoors. I work from home and we are putting a play stand in my office (upstairs loft)and the cage and another stand will be downstairs. This is the cage we got: uploadfromtaptalk1434939441520.jpguploadfromtaptalk1434939465110.jpg

40 wide is too small for a GW IMO. Minimum 48 and bigger is better. I like your idea of using this one outside.
