Almost a week and nemo and I have built a relationship. He comes down even with the dogs under foot. We were outside for over an hour today. (Though he kind of freaked when the leaves started falling off the tree..rofl) I asked my daughter to post pics. She is also on this site so please help her too. Lizndoo. All of you have been so helpful and it is greatly appreciated.:red1:

Another update. Nemo is doing well. Loves to dance and sing. He his still a seed monger. I have introduced new healthy foods. He is notdigging veggies with vit a. Nor eating pellets though I have reduced seed, pellet mixture. My concern is he won't eat enough. He won't starve himself will he???? His feathers and dander are much better.

Happy to hear Nemo is doing well. Some birds are more stubborn than others about changing their diets. It's often a matter of the bird recognizing the new items as food. Usually once a bird actually tastes something new and discovers it's good, he'll eat it every time. I wouldn't reduce the amount of his regular food too much, until you're sure he is eating his new food. Keep offering healthy foods, eat some in front of Nemo, or pretend to, so he can see how yummy it is. If he's having trouble, you may want to weigh him every day at the same time just to make sure he isn't losing too much weight. If he is refusing the pellets completely, you could offer several types until he finds one he likes. Softening the pellets in water may encourage him to try them too. It takes time and at first you throw away a lot, but it's worth it, Nemo will be much healthier.

Thanks allee. I know it takes time...he was-it a junk food junkie. Makes me cringe at some of the things he was fed. He is digging the mango but not carrots and sweet potato which have higher vit a content. I will change up the pellets. At least the chickens are enjoying the leftovers ;)

Nemo's previous owner came to visit. Brought m&ms and tootsie rolls. I had to bite my tounge. Thankfully he didn't take m&ms and only ate part of tootsie roll. Allee, he did eat sweet potatoe today after making a fuss over it. Thank you. Hopefully I can introduce pellets too.
