- Mana the manic female galah; yet to be named male corella
I really want to do the right thing here, I have owned various species over the years... my heart really wants another Galah but my partner will simply not tolerate the potential noise. *sigh*
So I have attempted to choose a species which I think he will be pleased with that I will also love. Its a change from my usual little cuddlepots... I have a deposit on a Moustache Parrot.
Today a very friendly young wild galah dangled from a tree branch and squarked a hello at me (he was about 1m from my head, he seemed to enjoy scaring the bajesus out of me LOL). All I can think about since is my old galah Larry. My last bird was a GCC as well so I have mostly just had the cuddly little comical muffins.
Basically... originally I thought it would be lovely to have something different that my partner may identify with more (a not so cuddly bird who has the potential to talk) but now I am feeling a bit of panic. I will be devastated if a moustache parrot does not fit my wants as much as I hope. I loved the comical nature of my galah and conure more than the cuddliness, I dont feel the need for a cuddly bird but I do feel the need for a bird who will want to participate in my activities and have a good natured sense of humour about himself.
I could be being paranoid due to my rocky past with parrots... perhaps if there are moustache owners out there who could give me a bit of insight into what its like to own one, I might feel a bit more reassured
I had a girl on my facebook profile have a big rant about how moustache parrots are louder than alexandrines, they do not talk and are unpleasent animals! She is the only person I have an opinion from so would love to hear first hand experience from owners.
