Parrots
Blue fronted Amazon
She is 5 years old and is pulling her feathers out. They seem to be irritating her and she is getting distressed. I have tried various sprays but they don't seem to be working. Would she do this if she was cold does anyone know please

Welcome to the forums!

How long has she been plucking her feathers? Could you post a picture of her so we can see if she’s actually plucking feathers out rather than barbering?

Now that you have mentioned that I think she is barbering. It's been a couple of weeks

It kinda looks like she’s probably both plucking and barbering if I had to guess, since you can see the skin.

I’d recommend taking her to a certified avian vet for bloodwork to rule out a medical cause, especially since this is a sudden behavior.

Thank you, problem is last time I checked we didn't have a bird specialist in Northamptonshire. Is there anything I can do in the short term please

Have you checked the resource thread?

Do you have any large Animal Vets, also know as Farm Vets in your area as they common have experience with Farm Avian /birds.

How often does she get a deep shower?
It will clearly help!

During the Winter months in the Northern Hemisphere it can get dry and feather problems can occur.
