Parrots
12 budgies
4 conures
So guys i have one pair of red factor yellow sided conures :green2::green2:
and one pair of pineapple conures :orange::orange:
They all are diferent blood line &
They all are like 3 months old right now
so its not like they gonna breed right now lol

but my confusion/question is
A) should i breed 2 pineapple conures?? (well i know there is a good chance of getting more pineapples if i do so)

B)Should i breed two red factor yellow sided? (is there any chance i can get more red factor in chicks ??))

C)or should i set pairs like this
i) red factor yellow sided male X pineapple female
ii) pineapple male X red factor yellow sided female
(if i split them like this way what mutation i can expect ?)

i know they still chicks not even semi adults
the reason i am asking this is once i make decision about making pairs i can separate them in proper pairs so they will start bonding
i am really confused:52::52::52: :confused:

I moved your thread to the Breeding Forum where hopefully you will get some replies:)

Not sure about GCC but with Suns you can not breed red factors together. Imo you should go for the most diversified gene pool possible.
BTW, it sounds like all your birds might be from the same source. Very poor planning. My pairs don't even come from the same parts of the US. Please don't breed related mutations. After all is the health and quality of life your responsibility? What good is a pretty bird that dies young?

thank a lot for the response:)
and yes all my conures belongs from different breeder
so all 4 belongs from 4 different breeder
i have had the bad experience with a budgie pair from same parents
so this time with conures i made sure they all from different breeders
and yes will contact you soon :)

Assuming no splits....

A) should i breed 2 pineapple conures??
100% Cinnamon Opaline Offspring (aka "pineapples")

B)Should i breed two red factor yellow sided?
100% RF Opalines (aka yellow sided)

RF in green cheeks is not the same as it is in Sun Conures. Amount of red in offspring may vary, but all should have some amount of red.

i) red factor yellow sided male X pineapple female
All offspring will be Opaline, males will be split Cinnamon. Should have varying amounts of extra red coloration in some of the offspring.

ii) pineapple male X red factor yellow sided female
All Opaline Cinnamon offspring will be females. All Opaline offspring will be males split Cinnamon. Easiest way to sex chicks without DNA/SS sexing. Should have some amount of red in offspring.

Here's a genetic calculator for green cheek conures. It does not include Red Factor, since it's not necessarily a mutation so much as it's selectively breeding for coloration.

Genetic Calculator 1.3 Green-cheeked Conure
