I have made a vet appointment and will be taking him in im just so heartbroken and scared that its symptoms of plucking

One or a few is ok, that's preening.

If it looks like there's another bird made from his feathers, I'd be concerned.

UPDATE: i took him to the vet and the doctor checked his skin and said that hes about ready to go through a heavy molt.... and at this point he isnt worried about him pulling a couple of feathers out... but i need to keep an eye on him and he recommened me to get him some shredders

I just wanted to say kudos for you for taking your bird to the vet when you identified a potential problem. That was the responsible thing to do. I'm glad your vet reassured you that your bird is just going through a normal molt. Although none of my birds is a plucker, I read everything I can (including the link cited) to be ready just in case. Your Grey is really a pretty boy. I hope you'll post more pictures of him.

His feathers are probably bothering him a little.

Increased bathing will help during hard molts.

Hi he's a lovely bird. Well done on the prompt Vet visit, great stuff. Good advice listed above, remember to give these actions no kudos as he will pick up if you are sensitive to it.

LEO is going to the vet again today... :( i didnt see him fall but his beak is hurting him and hes not drinking or eating i was hand feeding him soft food but cant get him to drink oh God when will this end i hate seeing him suffering.. if i could i would take all his pain from him but i cant ;(

Try giving him watery fruits or veg for hydration.

I'm not really sure of the situation or know anything at all about greys, but dealing with my conure with dehydration. Eating watermelon, tomato innards, veggie babyfood (get one that is just vegetable and water, no corn starch or additives) has helped a lot. If he will lick liquid off the tip of your finger, you can try that.

Hope all is well soon.

My Bixby once hurt his beak and had trouble opening it very far. Turned out to just be inflammation from the trauma and he got past it after maybe 2 or 3 days. In the meantime, I helped him by feeding him through the side of his beak. That way, he didn't have to open his beak all the way. Just enough so that the curve at the side would provide enough of an opening. He figured out what I was doing rather quickly, and then got quite excited at the prospect of food.

I hope it's nothing serious in your bird's case.

Hope he's ok :(

Having had an amazon as a kid, followed by working in a local pet shop where I at least had contact with large birds, I was still taken off guard with our own new CAG. Even the store didn't carry them, and other than helping out simply because I wasn't afraid I was there to take care of marine fish. Never crossed my mind how different THIS would be!

I have discovered a CAG is a football with no lift and clutsy!!! Our little Sophie, on day two, took a nose dive off her huge cage (now gone for a shorter but wider cage). It was late and no vet options. Much of it was MY emotion, but it seemed like there was no end to the blood and I was in a panic. However, she went RIGHT back to eating, even while bleeding and shaking her head, spraying it around!!! The bleeding stopped, and after calling the vet in the morning they advised it could be beak, or tongue, but if eating and fine otherwise to just keep an eye on her. She was fine, and we were lucky.

Other than having to relay my "Oh My God, what do I do?", I'm happy you are in contact with a vet as well and hopefully resolved quickly. Their resiliency is amazing though, so don't freak too much yet!

hey guys just got back from the vet and he said there was a cut under his foot which may have been the cause of an infection and under his bottom beak the vet said that it was red. so he prescribed batril 22.7mg one a day its in a syringe liquid form any idea how effective this drug is ?

Baytril is one of the antibiotics prescribed to Bixby to fight his secondary infections. It worked well enough. How many days? 5 or 10?
