my gouldian baby died in my hands this morning...poor little thing was taking his last breaths.

I kept an open mind, not getting ahead of myself, just taking day by day. I just wish I knew why the gouldian died. he seemed perfectly fine :(

Sorry to hear they didn't make it!!!! :(

I was really rooting/cheering for them!

me too Monica, I felt so helpless watching him taking his last breaths, but on a good note, the same pair are doing the mating dance ritual, and my other pair are building a nest!

I can't take any more tossed babies, I've had a few over the years, and it is the worst part of breeding.:(

Sorry to hear about the Gouldian baby....One thing my pair of Zebra finches do is kill their babies after fully grown. Now that's a sad sight to see so they're banned from ever having anymore babies.

Mikey- do you have any idea why they do this??, what is it about finches?

canaries don't do this type of behaviour at all, I'm just wondering.
thx.

Inexperience would cause this plus when the male wants to mate again the males are the culprit.

thank you Sharon,

I don't know what's worse, finding a baby that's been tossed onto the bottom of the cage and has died, or one dyeing in your hands, it really stinks either way.

but on a good note, now both my pairs of gouldians are busy building nests, or doing the hip-hop dance, lol.

let's hope these babies don't get tossed.
